FAQs

The pet is my patient, do I still need to see the pet? A vet visit is required for the pet at the sole discretion of the veterinary professional. A visit is not required if the vet is confident the pet has been vaccinated against rabies and knows its microchip number. If the vet is unsure, the pet is not vaccinate or microchipped then the vet will need to see the pet.

Will I receive Pawmit donations if I certify data before my customer purchases a Pawmit ? Yes, the current certifying vet of record at the time of a Pawmit is issued will receive the initial and renewal Pawmit donations as long as the license used to certify the data is in effect, the owner has not selected a different vet and all other conditions have been meet to permit issuance of the Pawmit.

What is the difference between a commission, payment, and donation? These terms are used interchangeably on our site but it should be noted that Veripet is a non-profit organization and incoming funds are considered donations as are the funds we supply in return for certifying data and donations to rescues and shelters.

What if a pet is exempt from rabies vaccination requirements? There are pets who for many reasons such as medical conditions or age, may be exempt from being required to have a rabies vaccination. Veripet will still provide the licensed medical professions all donations for certifying the pet is exempt and the reason it is exempt and maintaining the exemption status every 4 years just as if the pet had received a vaccination and/or booster.

Will I receive Pawmit donations if I wasn't the original vaccination administrator? You do not have to be the original certifier to receive the initial or renewal donation but your organization must enter the data and certify it. Your organization may perform any due diligence which makes you comfortable certifying the data be it revaccination, inspecting paperwork from the owner, or calling the administering organization for validation.

What if a different vet administered my pet's rabies vaccination? The rabies vaccination certification can still be made by your current vet. Your current vet can cetify the rabies data by performing whatever level of due diligence they are comfortable with be it a phone call to the administering physician, inspection of paperwork, or other means.

Who are Pawmit donations made to? All financial distributions are credited to the organization, not physician, to which the certifying physician's license is associated with at the time the Pawmit is issued.

Will I receive a Pawmit donation if I certified the data after a Pawmit was issued? Yes, if the certification is in response to a renewal / booster shot and satisfies all the renewal terms.

Will I receive retroactive distributions if my organization is no longer active in the Veripet System? No. The organization must be registered and active to receive all donations.

Do Pawmit donations accumulate? Pawmit donations are credited to the certifying organization and remain in that account until dispersed as per our terms. If the organization's account becomes inactive for any reasons the funds will be permanently lost by the organization.

Will I receive donations if I moved to a different organization? No. All financial distributions are credited to the organization, not physician, at the time the Pawmit is issued.

How will I know when a Pawmit donation has been made? Your organization will receive a notification via email or other methods using the contact information supplied when you registered. This is an important reason to maintain accurate and up to date information on your account settings page. Your admin can also check on line accounting transaction search page at any time.

What if another vet certifies the data after I certified it? This situation may occur if a pet owner who brings the pet to a different certifying vet after you have certified the data. In the event another physician certifies the data prior to the issuance of the Pawmit but after your organization certified it, the certifying organization of record (new vet) will receive all donations when the Pawmit is issued.
